Social Care Organisations

Introduction

Communication is one of the best ways in the health and social care institutions to understand the needs and preferences of the patients and interact with them successfully. Communication is therefore important aspect through which the health and social care service providers can build strong relationship with the service users and cooperate with them to provide the best possible treatment and care to the patients as per their needs and requirements (Glasby, 2017). The study aims at discussing the theories and practice of communication in the health and social car institutions so that the service providers can communicate with the internal staff and also the service users for delivering high quality treatment and care to the health and social care service users. Communication skill is required in the health and social care as it enhances cooperation and coordination among the staff members as well as the patients which are necessary to deliver high quality health and social care service. Internal and external communication is helpful for the service care providers, health and social care institutions as well as the technological advancement for communication are beneficial to improve the efficiency to provide proficient service to the patients. In this regard, my role is to support the people with dementia from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) background. The workforce is also from this background and it is important for me to communicate with them for supporting the people who are suffering from dementia (Edelman, Mandle and Kudzma, 2017).

1.1 Applying relevant theories of communication to health and social care
contexts

Effective communication is the two-way process where the patients and the health and social care service providers can interact for better treatment where both the service users and providers are beneficial to interact with each other (Ginter, Duncan and Swayne, 2018). As per the Humanistic theory, there needs self-esteem, dignity, honour and love and in this regard, communication depends on these factors where person’s self-esteem, love and dignity need to be maintained while communicating (Dickinson and O'Flynn, 2016). On the other hand, as per the cognitive theory, there are coding, encoding, processing and storage of the particular information where the people need to understand the topic of discussion by using personal intelligence (Ruesch et al., 2017). Behavioural theory deals with the behaviour of the people while communicating with each other. it is necessary for the people to understand the behaviour and attitude of another person while interacting. communication skill is exploring in the health and social care where the staff members are concerned about positive attitude of others, positive working culture, respect for each other and common language where it is possible for them to enhance communication and work as a team (National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, 2016). Cross cultural communication and negotiation skill are also beneficial where all the staff members can work cooperatively as a team and meet the common objective of the health and social care institutions (Brett et al., 2014).

1.2 Using communication skills in a health and social care context

There are various ways of communication where persons can interact with each other such as written communication through e-mail, personalise mail, portal of the organisations etc., verbal communication like open communication, group discussion and general meeting and facial expression as well as use of signs in the health and social care institutions for communicating with each other (Manners, 2017). Hereby, understanding the communication style and using the interactive skill are necessary for the health and social service providers where they can interact with each for providing. better treatment and care. Open communication and group discussion are helpful for the health and social care service providers as they can interact with the patients openly and acknowledge their actual health needs and preferences (Glasby and Dickinson, 2014). It also provides a scope to interact with the staff members and physicians for providing better treatment and care to the patients as their requirements. Moreover, written communication, using facial expression and sign language are also beneficial for the service providers to enhance communication and serve the patients more carefully (Best, Manktelow and Taylor, 2014).

1.3 Reviewing methods of dealing with inappropriate interpersonal
communication between individuals in health and social care settings

It is essential to improve inter personal communication and both the verbal and nonverbal communication techniques are useful for enhancing the inter personal communication which is necessary in the health and social care institutions and it further helps to monitor the workplace and provide better care and treatment to the patients (Lundgren and McMakin, 2018). Speak clearly and listening others are effective to improve inter personal communication skill where mutual understanding among the team members and cooperation can be enhanced through inter personal communication (Solanas et al., 2014). Effective inter personal communication also depends on the training program provided in the health and social care service and in this regard, I also try to develop my interpersonal communication skill through improving verbal communication so that it is easy to serve the people suffering for dementia from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) background.

1.4 Analysing the use of strategies to support users of health
and social care services with specific communication needs

The health and social care service providers focus on the patients who are suffering from communication phobia where the patients cannot communicate properly (Batterham et al., 2016). Encouraging the patients to interact and express their feelings openly are the strategies to support the patients who has the phobia to interact with others. in addition to these, building trust and respecting them as well as interacting with them continuously are also effective methods to interact with the patients having communication needs. Listening the patients carefully and cooperating with them also provides a scope to the health and social service providers to communicate with the them and motivate them to express their feelings.

2.1 Explaining how the communication process is influenced by values and cultural factors

Effective communication depends on the values and cultures of the individuals where the people need to respect each other. the collection of information and knowledge, rules, attitude of the person, language, beliefs and habits of the people are also important factors that have crucial impacts on the communication in a group of people. the factors like social class, beliefs, age of the individual, sex and education are effective as it influences communication of the people in the organisations. As a social care worker, it is my responsibility to communicate with each other and my educational background further helps me a lot to discuss a topic with others which in turn helps me a lot in gathering more knowledge and develop my skills and abilities to treat the people with dementia from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) background. person’s social class is also important for communication and in this regard try to interact with the people in the Black and Ethnic Minority Group so that it is possible for me to acknowledge their actual needs and preferences which helps me a lot to fulfil their requirements. hereby, social class is one important factor that provides me a scope to satisfy the people who are suffering for dementia from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) background. language is also another cultural factor where I try to improve my communication skill through understanding the local language of the Black and Ethic Minority Group as without understanding their language, it is not possible for me to interact with them.

2.2 Explaining how legislation, charters and codes of practice impact on the communication process in health and social care

the legislations and the code of conduct of communication also need to be considered where I need to ensure that the collected information and data from the people suffering for dementia from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) background where it helps me to serve better care and support the people who are suffering from dementia. without this consent, the people are not feeling free to interact and provide effective information about their problems and health issues. in this regard, Data Protection Act 1998 is effective where I try to secure the collected information form the patients who are suffering for dementia from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) background and I try to keep the information safe and utilise the collected data to treat the patients and provide them effective support so that they can overcome their present situation and health issues. another code of conduct is that I try to maintain the updated technology for enhancing communication and treating the patients and I ensures that the technologies are safe to utilise so that the patients will be safe in future and will get better care and support (Kaakinen et al., 2018). As per the code of practice, I try to identify the past record of the treatments and symptoms of the people who are suffering for dementia from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) background and in this regard I need to communicate with the patients and their families and hereby, there is a great impacts of the code of practice in health and social care service on communication where I try to enhance interaction with the patients as well as their families to understand their health issues and their requirements.

2.3 Analysing the effectiveness of organizational systems and policies in promoting good practice in communication

Organisational practice is one of the important factors that is helpful to enhance communication in the organisation where leaders and managers are helpful to improve internal conversation and influence other staff members to interact with each other properly. in this regard, organisational culture is beneficial where the leaders and managers try to create positive environment where all the staff members can interact openly with each other (Wright, 2016). Transparency and accountability in the organisation are another leadership style through which it is possible to develop friendly work environment where all the employees are treated fairly, and it is easy to communicate with each other successfully. in addition to these, training program is also effective for me to improve my skill and discuss with others so that I can provide better care and support to the people who are suffering for dementia from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) background. moreover, utilising updated technology for enhancing internal and external communication is also another leadership strategy where all the staff members and health and social care professionals can provide better care and support to the people from the Black and Ethnic Minority Group where they are suffering from dementia. internal cooperation and empowering the staff members in the organisational decision-making behaviour are also effective organisational policies and practice which enhances internal communication among the staff members and this further helps me a lot to work for the people from the Black and Ethnic Minority Group who are suffering from Dementia.

2.4 Suggesting the ways of improving the communication process in a health and social care setting

It is essential for me to improve communication for helping the people who are suffering for dementia from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) background. as a health and social care worker, I try to improve communication and gather information through open interactions with the patients as well as their families so that the actual information can be collected from them. sharing experience and ensuring them that they are safe and secured are also my strategy through which I can provide them better care and support after acknowledging their actual health needs and preferences. moreover, I try to treat all the patients fairly and cooperate with them to treat them efficiently with latest technology of treatment. developing trust and building relationship with the patients from the Black and Ethnic Minority Group are also effective to enhance communication where the people are free to discuss tehri issues and past record of their health problems with me. interpersonal development, respecting each of the people from the Black and Ethnic Minority Group band positive attitude are beneficial to treat the people who are suffering from dementia from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) background. implanting Information and Communication technology (ICT) is also advantageous for enhancing internal and external communication and it in turn provides a scope to improve the condition of the people who suffer for dementia from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) background where it is possible to develop the social communication in the Black and ethnic Minority Group.

3.1 Accessing and using standard ICT software packages to support work in health and social care

Utilising Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is beneficial as it provides an opportunity to the service providers to enhance their efficiency level to serve the patients more carefully by understanding their actual needs and preferences and open communication. The ICT software package is helpful for managing the data related to the patients which provides me a scope to manage the patients who are suffering for dementia from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) background. Medical history of the patients and special information related to patient’s health can also be kept through ICT software and I can find the information related to a particular patient easily. accessibility of data and information is easy as well as transfer of data for better care and treatment and for discussing with other physicians are also possible through utilise the ICT software package. I need to have all the medical record of the patients before treating the people suffering for dementia from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) background and in this regard using ICT is helpful for me to manage the people and provide them better care and treatment as per their health needs and requirements. Additionally, the ICT software is beneficial to enhance communication and gather more information related to treatment and better updated technology which will be advantageous for treating the people more efficiently.

Global Railway versus Air Global Railway versus Air

ICT is one of the efficient tools in the recent era of globalisation to provide better care and practice to the patients and it is considered as updated technology for enhancing the performance in the health and social care institutions where the service providers, care workers, health and social care organisations as well as the service users can utilise the benefits of using ICT. for the service providers, using ICT is beneficial as they can improve their efficiency and manage the patients successfully. It is cost and time effective which in turn helps the service providers to serve the patients with better care and practice. Increased capabilities, timely treatment and encouraging safety environment are also the benefits for the serviced providers where they can boost trust and loyalty among the patients and provide them the best treatment and support.

On the other hand, the service users are also beneficial for the use of ICT in the workplace as they can get the best treatment and care at lower price. Proper treatment and better care are helpful for the patients where they can overcome their current health problem more systematically and quickly. In addition to these, the health and social care institutions are also beneficial where ICT provides the organisations to improve the overall performance and treat more patients with safety and security. maintaining health care standard and applying the best health care policies are also beneficial for the organisation where it is easy to maintain health and social care standard in the society where the patients are willing to get better treatment from the health care institutions.

Managing legal consideration is important while utilising ICT in the health and social care institutions where the Data Protection Act 2008 is effective, and it provides a scope to run the health care institution without ethical issues. In this regard, Health and Safety Act 2008 is also beneficial to be maintained in the organisations for using ICT safely and protect the information related to the patients. the leaders and managers need to arrange effective training to educate the staff members about the Intellectual Property Rights and Copyrights where the information of the patients can be kept safely. Expressing consent of using personal information is also beneficial to manage the legal considerations in the health and social care institutions and it has crucial impacts on the organisations where the leaders and managers are successful in building strong relationship with the patients by ensuring trust and loyalty. On the other hand, it is important to respect personal privacy and confidentiality of the personal information which are beneficial to avoid any ethical issues in the health and social care institutions and it provides a scope to the health care service providers to provide better care and support to the patients. In this present case, I also try to respect the privacy of the patients who are suffering for dementia from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) background by keeping their information safe and secure through utilising ICT.
