The fact that it is not easy to be adopted by the learners makes it unpopular and so not very effective.
The shortcomings was the researcher used two groups in the study’s design. The confounds is that the students subjected to the strategy perceived as tiresome and unpopular (word association) were able to recall most words than those subjected to the ‘rote’ learning technique.
The researcher could have used one group and subject them to the two learning techniques and assess the ability to recall the word from the same group. This would have given better insight.
