This paper has presented and discussed the case study of food tourism festival in Canberra of Australia, Truffle festival. This article has highlighted the fact that how the improvement as well as implementation of food experiences can be used as one of the most important economic development strategies in a country for sustainable economic growth.

Article findings:

This article first highlights what is The Truffle festival in Canberra and why it is famous to the visitors. Star et al. (2020) identified the festival highly effective in making perfect collaboration of agriculture, hospitality and tourism industry, which provides potential chances to Australia to grab high economic success by utilising the importance of this recreational event. Secondly, this article mentioned the six key methods that are the speciality of this festival that makes the visitors attracted towards Canberra to attend the festival. As argued by Privitera et al. (2018), although food tourism is proved to have strong link with economic development, it is difficult for any country to make it as their centre of focus to maintain sustainable economy, as the customer perception regarding visit the recreational demand sited changes with the changing market trend and social values. Star et al. (2020) have made potential argument in this context by using Demand Theory and Travel Cost Method (TCM) in this research paper, which has proved it statistically that, food festival is implemented in a better manner through using well-structured times frame, cost analysis and high level of consumer benefits factors, it is possible for any country to attend high level of economic growth. Additionally, Star et al. (2020) also find out that how the value of recreational choice of visitors is associated with travel cost and Opportunity Cost Time (OCT). Here Star et al. (2020) found out that, for using food tourism as one of the most important economic development strategy , it is important for policymakers effective modification as well as restructuring in food festival as well as in recreational activities associated with these festivals in which different things need to be considered such as cost of each food items, cost of travel to recreational site, time spend on reaching recreational demand place and the substitute sites.

After reviewing the entire content of this article, it can be stated that, although Star et al. (2020) had successfully represented the statistical analysis of database collected from visitors that have highlighted the link between food tourism and the economic growth, they are failed to make clear interpretation of many aspects that are associated with this topic. Firstly, Star et al. (2020) although mentioned that, the Truffles festivals in Canberra is important event that assists this entire country to make perfect linkage of environment, agriculture and social policies, the article is failed to make valuable justification on support of this viewpoint. Secondly, Star et al. (2020) focused their attention more on statistical analysis of travel time, cost of travel and consumer surplus values that highlight financial growth that Canberra can gain through implementing Truffles Festival effectively, rather they do not consider other important aspects such as the decision making of visitors , their changing perception and attitude that also pose potential impact on overall economic growth. Finally, although Star et al. (2020) have successfully discussed the linkage between the consumer surplus and demand function in context on influencing the number of visitor in recreation sites, it is failed to highlight the social, cultural and financial aspects Australia as well as of other overseas countries that have potential impact on number of visitor attending the Truffle festival. Despite these drawbacks, it is also acknowledged that this article has successfully highlighted the importance of food tourism in boosting economic growth in a country by mentioning different factors such as the benefits of food tourism in current economic framework. Additionally, Star et al. (2020) had successfully highlighted the areas in which policymakers of country need to focus for making perfect implementation of food tourism and make it as the important strategy for attaining high level of economic growth.

From the overall review of this research paper it can be concluded that the main aspect in this article that the researcher intended to highlight is strong linkage between proper implementation of food tourism and sustainability of economic development in the country, In additional to this the article also highlights the importance of food tourism in maintaining collaboration with agriculture, economic and social policies to maintain highly suitable and well-organized framework in the country.
