Through this analysis, it is possible to demonstrate the behavioural issues in a specific person, who is suffering through behavioural problems and aggressive behaviours towards others. Hence, it is the role of the health and social workers to support the individual with intervention strategic planning, so that the behaviour of the individual can be improved further through continuous social support and skill enhancement for anxiety management and stress control activities. The study provides a scope to evaluate different theories and models related to cultural competence which are such as cognitive behavioural theory, Crisis Intervention and psychodynamic theory. The models and psychodynamic theory are beneficial for the social worker to explore different intervention strategy for cooperating with the individual and provide continuous support and social care so that the individual can overcome the situation of behavioural disorders. After evaluating the theories related to cultural competence, it would be possible to develop critical reflective practice where I can discuss own understanding and strategies to support the individual, who seek help to lead a normal life. Mustafa is a 16 years old boy, having two brothers, Idris aged 14 ears and Yusuf aged 19 years and all of them are living with their parents, mother Ayan, 62 years old lady and their father aged 66 years. Their parents are from Oman and they are born and brought up in the UK. The person visiting a park reported Mustafa to the police after seeing him brandishing a meat cleaver and a butcher knife whilst riding his bike around, for which Mustafa was arrested and sent to police station for further investigation by the police to Children social care. He denied any malicious intent, and told the police that, he found the weapons from a bag in the bush and was riding around to find a safe place to put the weapons in fear of anyone being hurt by them or finding them. Few days later, while Mustafa walked home from school, he was attacked by 5 men who beat him around his body. Mustafa said that, he remembers a warm liquid flowing down the side of his face after receiving a blow to the head that further causing him to fall to the ground unconscious. The head injury was substantial and he was sent to the hospital or treatment. He was admitted for staying under supervision for 2 weeks. A few days after, Mustafa was released home from hospital, while Ayan expressed that, he displayed worrying signs of anger management at school and at home. This becomes serious situation to control Mustafa where due to such worrying sign, explosive anger outburst and harmful activities in both the school and his parents had to call the police on several occasions. Hereby, it is essential for the parents and social worker to intervene and support Mustafa for overcoming the anxiety disorder issue, so that he can lead a healthy lifestyle like others. Due to explosive anger outburst, Mustafa face awkward situation at home and it is essential to develop intervention planning for ensuring cognitive behavioural practices so that he can realise his activities and continuous supported to overcome the issue of anxiety disorder.
Moreover, Mustafa sometimes wanted money from his parents and was told no, and then his reaction was out of control such as breaking the furniture in the house including the television, was verbally aggressive towards his older brother, physically attacked his father, and pushed his mother. This further resulted that, his parents had to call the police once again. Moreover, the police had to be called again in the school, while Mustafa reacted after a teacher confiscated the cigarettes he was carrying whilst in school. Mustafa reacted by being loud and aggressive and asking for his cigarettes, the teachers tried to calm him down and explained that, he is not allowed to carry cigarettes on school grounds. After hearing this, Mustafa became angrier and started throwing desk and chairs around. The teachers had to send the students from the nearby classrooms, called the police and his parents for tackling the situation. On the police arriving, Mustafa calmed down and was sent home by the school. During the first home visit, the social worker ask Mustafa about why does he get so angry, to which he said that, he cannot control how he is feeling when he gets angry, and he does not like talking to anyone about it or how he is feeling. He is mainly suffering from anxiety disorders which led him towards explosive anger outburst that are harmful to others. Hereby, it is a serious issue, where the parent and his brother are suffering from getting injured by the acts of Mustafa, as he cannot control his anger and there are harmful activities at home and also at several places such as school. As a social worker in managing cultural competence and protecting the livelihood of the victims, I try to contribute positively in treating Mustafa positively and cooperate with him for exploring the causes of such behaviour. As per the understanding, I come to know that, Mustafa is suffering from anxiety disorders and he sometimes acts explosive behaviour that is harmful for the people surround him. Worrying sign, explosive anger outburst and harmful activities are common in the behaviour of Mustafa and I come to know that, he is not able to control, his anger, and even he is not ready to hear any explanation by others, not even from his parents and school teacher. It is a serious issue, which needs supervision and control through intervention planning and cognitive behavioural therapy. I as a social care worker also try to utilise the existing theories for treating Mustafa efficiently by identifying his problems. The psychodynamic and narrative theory is useful to narrate the whole case and explore the existing causes of such aggressive behaviour. Through the theories, it is possible for me to follow step by step approach to empower Mustafa and develop intervention planning to treat him efficiently.
Moreover, the restorative practice models also effective to describe the behaviour of the individual interact with him and develop practices to help in building positive rapport and support him to overcome such behaviour. I try to utilise the parenting style and their executions in order to explore the perception of the children. Through the theories of cognitive behaviour and crisis theory, it is possible to identify the activities of Mustafa and identify the parenting expectations, for which he is suffering from anxiety disorders, mood swing, and lack of control on stress and depression and explosive behaviour. The theories are hereby beneficial to explore the cussed and also provide a scope to develop intervention strategy to support Mustafa. As a social care worker, I try to develop strong team work between parents, Mustafa, his brothers and teachers where I would like to empower Mustafa and other members in the family in order to share the information and individual’s expectations from each other. As per my diagnosis, the parenting style is traditional and they belief on cultural perspective and traditional activities, however, in the recent years, the children are much more open minded and they expect different activities from their parents. Hence, there is a mismatch between parenting expectations and current parenting styles. The parents are aged and brought up under strict and culturally expected environment, but the children are born and bred in the UK with diverse culture and different mind-set that raise conflicts. Mustafa is suffering from clashes with their parents, as he cannot express himself and also his expectations from his parents are not met due to traditional belief and strict environment. Through the psychodynamic and narrative theory, it is possible for me and other care workers such as health care givers and psychiatrics to cooperate with each other and explore the actual causes of behaviour aggressively.
